About the Conference

Malaysia is entering a decisive period as it prepares for the 13th Malaysia Plan and approaches the final stretch toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Social, economic, and environmental pressures continue to reshape community needs, while demands for transparency, evidence-based programmes, and ethical stewardship continue to rise.

Philanthropy remains central to addressing these challenges. The sector mobilises resources rapidly, supports vulnerable groups, strengthens social safety nets, and complements government efforts. Yet barriers persist: fragmented initiatives, limited data sharing, uneven governance standards, and slow digital adoption.

This conference provides a dedicated platform to bring together national philanthropic leaders to:
• Strengthen partnerships that advance Malaysia’s social development agenda.
• Elevate governance, accountability, and professional standards across the sector.
• Explore innovations in giving such as digital philanthropy, community-led models, pooled grant making, and Islamic social finance tools (zakat, waqf, sadaqah).
• Build organisational capacity and encourage evidence-driven, community-centred practice.

By convening leaders, funders, and practitioners, the Malaysia Philanthropy Conference 2026 aims to accelerate collective action and position philanthropy as a cornerstone of Malaysia’s social resilience and inclusive development. This conference is also organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Philanthropy Network (MPN), an informal network of corporate, family and independent philanthropic foundations established in 2025 to strengthen collaboration and advance effective giving across Malaysia.
