ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The government has announced a necessary extension to the MCO for the third time on April 23, 2020. Although it is yet unclear if the MCO will be lifted on May 12, 2020, what is certain is that businesses cannot go back to normal after the MCO as society makes adjustments and lives in constant vigilance of the COVID-19 virus to prevent its recurrence. This implies the continued practice of social distancing, avoidance of crowded places/events, and a fundamental change in consumer psyche which will continue to affect business performance.
Lessons must also be taken from what has been implemented thus far. Despite improvements in the stimulus evident from the Prime Minister’s third round of additions to Prihatin, mainly for the SMEs, there continues to be criticism that measures have not been adequate for some businesses, particularly the self-employed and the gig-economy.
This webinar features speakers representing SMEs, giving them a platform to share the concerns of the SME community of the reality beyond the MCO and give suggestions on what the government can do to spur performance and ensure survivability.
