Menurut Menteri Kanan Kewangan, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, langkah itu bagi membolehkan pengesanan kontak lebih cepat dapat dibuat. 80 peratus populasi dewasa lengkap vaksin hujung September, 100 peratus Oktober - Tengku Zafrul

Kerajaan yakin 80 peratus populasi dewasa dijangka lengkap menerima dua dos menjelang hujung September ini. Menurut Menteri Kewangan, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, keyakinan itu disandarkan selepas 70 peratus populasi dewasa ketika ini telah lengkap dua dos vaksin. "Pada 7 September, lebih 20 juta rakyat atau 89 peratus populasi dewasa telah menerima dos pertama vaksin. Ini termasuk 16 juta atau 70 peratus yang telah lengkap dua dos vaksin.

The government is looking at further revising down the price of Covid-19 self-test kits by end of this year to make them accessible to everyone. Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz (pic) said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry and the Ministry of Health were looking into the matter. "To expand testing efforts, the Ministry of Health has recognised RTK Antigen and approved several Covid-19 self-test kits which can be bought in pharmacies nationwide. "In making the self-test kits accessible to everyone, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and the Ministry of Health have set the ceiling price at below RM20 per set," he said in a special address during the virtually-held National Recovery Plan Summit on Thursday (Sept 9).

Goalposts for Covid-19 herd immunity moved to 90pc now, says deputy Health D-G

Malaysia may have to change what it considers herd immunity for Covid-19 now due to the high reproductive number (R0) of new variants. Deputy Health director-general Datuk Dr Hishamshah Mohd Ibrahim said that if previously herd immunity was considered achieved if 60 to 70 per cent of the total population had been vaccinated, a more realistic target now would be 90 per cent. “Previously in the original strain from Wuhan, the reproductive number is only about 2.0 to 3.0. One case can infect three. But the current Delta variant is a totally different virus in a sense because the R0 now can reach about 9.0.
