Datin Prof. Dr. Mariani Md Nor

DATIN DR. MARIANI MD NOR is a Professor at the Faculty of Education, Languages, Psychology, and Music in SEGi University, Kota Damansara, Selangor. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Malaya in 1984 and her Master and PhD Child Psychology in Education from the University of Bristol in 1998. Her research interests are mainly early childhood education and its field related ECE areas pertaining to cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, and educational psychology.

Datin Prof. Dr. Mariani Md Nor is currently the president of ECCE Council Malaysia and was appointed in 2021 and re-elected again till 2025. As president of the ECCE Council, educators and been working for ECCE industry together with other ECCE exco members none other than to improve the quality of early childhood education in Malaysia by advocating for policy changes, providing professional development opportunities for early childhood educators, and raising awareness about the importance of early childhood education. Being in the field for almost 30 years, participated in research and producing articles in ECCE as well as in educating our youngsters to become educators of ECCE (at University of Malaya since 1998), she is then appointed as the Chairperson of Standard Programme in ECE MQA to ensure and sustain the quality of all programmes under ECE offered by Higher Education Providers (HEPs).

In terms of publication, Datin Prof. Dr. Mariani has published over 60 research papers in international journals (WOS, SCOPUS & refereed journal) and conferences. She has also authored several books and book chapters on early childhood education and psychology. Her expertise is also acknowledged and recognized locally and internationally and has presented numerous papers pertaining to ECE not only as keynote speaker but has involved in many CSR activities with children especially with the minority group. Recently she was invited to be part of the declaration dialogue on early childcare and education across Southeast Asia region held in Jakarta.

Datin Prof. Dr. Mariani is a highly respected scholar and educator that has supervised to completion many numbers of PhD and Masters’ student in ECE. She is passionate on working to improve the lives of the young children across the local and the international aspect as well.
