Dato’ Quek Ngee Meng

Dato’ Quek Ngee Meng is a highly experienced Malaysian lawyer who leads the HHQ team in projects involving digital databases, digital centres, data centres and renewable energy, supporting sustainable development and strategic investment. His legal practice spans corporate and M&A, banking and finance, real estate, cross-border trade and investment, and matters related to the Belt and Road Initiative. He has advised major property developers, financial institutions, multinational corporations and international businesses on complex transactions, financing arrangements, investment strategies and commercial agreements.

His extensive experience includes advising on major foreign investments and property transactions, including a RM170 million acquisition of industrial land in Johor for data centre development, a RM2.5 billion tyre manufacturing investment in Kedah, and a RM200 million disposal of a Malaysian subsidiary to a Chinese enterprise for the development of an alumina production facility. He has also advised Chinese companies on industrial land acquisitions, represented businesses in matters involving the East Coast Rail Link, and acted on major syndicated financing arrangements. His expertise in Malaysia-China economic cooperation has also led to regular invitations to speak at international and local conferences on investment, trade and the Belt and Road Initiative.

Beyond his legal practice, Dato’ Quek holds numerous professional and institutional appointments, including roles as an arbitrator with several international arbitration centres, Director of the Malaysia-China Business Council, Independent Non-Executive Director of Sunsuria Berhad, and Non-Executive Chairman and Director of the Andersen Malaysia Group. He has contributed to several publications on Malaysian investment, manufacturing and real estate, and co-authored a book on the Batang Kali Massacre. His professional standing has been recognised through accolades including Managing Partner of the Year at the Asian Legal Business Malaysia Law Awards 2026 and recognition by IFLR1000, The Legal 500 and asialaw. He holds degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Adelaide and a Master of Laws from the National University of Singapore.
