Dato’ Ramesh Kodammal

Dato’ Ramesh Kodammal is a distinguished Malaysian entrepreneur and business leader with over five decades of experience in trade, industry, and regional economic cooperation. He is the Chairman of Goldtex Group of Companies, which he founded in 1973 and developed into a successful enterprise specialising in the import and export of textiles and the manufacturing of home furnishings.

Beyond his entrepreneurial achievements, Dato’ Ramesh has played a pivotal role in strengthening Malaysia’s economic diplomacy and advancing regional integration. He currently serves as Chairman of the ASEAN India Economic Council (AIEC), where he champions closer ASEAN–India economic cooperation, trade facilitation, and connectivity. Under his leadership, AIEC has become a platform for fostering partnerships, policy dialogue, and business opportunities between ASEAN and India.

He also holds key positions as Honorary Secretary of the Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur, Advisor to the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, Advisor to the Melaka Indian Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (MICCE), Executive Council Member of the ASEAN Economic Club, Governing Council Member of the Malaysia India Business Council (MIBC), Council Member of the Malaysia Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (MAICCI), and Trustee of the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KLSICCI).

A respected voice in regional and international forums, Dato’ Ramesh has been invited to moderate and speak at numerous high-level conferences, where he has consistently advanced Malaysia’s position on issues of trade, connectivity, and regional integration. He has also played an instrumental role in official bilateral engagements, including during the state visits of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Malaysia, where he actively facilitated business dialogues and strengthened bilateral cooperation.

His past leadership includes serving as Co-Chairman and Malaysia Chapter Chairman of the ASEAN-India Business Council (AIBC), where he was instrumental in advancing the ASEAN–India Free Trade Agreement and promoting greater regional supply chain collaboration. He also served as Deputy President of KLSICCI, Vice President of MAICCI, Treasurer of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), and as a Founding Member and Trustee of the Sindhi Association of Malaysia, where he contributed actively to community development, cultural preservation, and social welfare initiatives.

Beyond his professional and business leadership, Dato’ Ramesh has been deeply committed to NGO work and community service. Through chambers, associations, and non-governmental organisations, he has supported educational initiatives, youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and charitable causes.
