Satinah is the Director for Melewar Learning Resources/ Direct English and Managing Director for Alpha Alsagoff Edu Resources Sdn. Bhd, an education consulting company she set up in 2011. She is a member of the Board of Governors for the British International School (BSKL) Kuala Lumpur (Nord Anglia UK); and the St. John International Schools Kuala Lumpur. She is also the Trustee/Consultant for Vijayaratnam Foundation (under RHYTHM Foundation- QI Social Impact Initiative).

Satinah is the former Member for the National Education Advisory Council 2018-2020, Ministry of Education (MOE); former Board Member for Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (April 2018- July 2020); and former Education Consultant & Advisor for Khazanah Nasional (May 2012 – May 2019).

Satinah graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Sociology & Anthropology) and Diploma in Education from the University of Malaya; and Master of Science degree from Loughborough University UK. She attended courses on Educational Policy Analysis (Harvard University USA), and on Project Management (Australian National University). She was a former teacher, lecturer and senior official at the MOE. She was the Secretary II of the National Committee on the drafting of the Education Act 1996. She was the Deputy Lab Leader (Education) during the conception of the Economic Transformation Programme in 2010.   She was also the Head of Project Management Office (Phase 1), MOE in reviewing the Malaysian Education System (2012) which culminated with the ‘Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025’.  She served the Ministry of Higher Education at the Polytechnics and Community Colleges Department; and as the Director of Education Malaysia, New Zealand.

Satinah is the President for ‘Malaysian Association for Education’ (MAE); Deputy President for Malaysian Children’s Aid Society, and a member of Harvard Alumni.  She contributes ideas /views in education via conferences, seminars, roundtable discussions and forum locally and internationally.
