Datuk Dr. James Lim

Datuk Dr. James Lim is a retired Malaysian corporate leader, strategist, author, and technical adviser with over four decades of experience in automotive, forestry, IT, and energy sectors. He currently serves as Technical Adviser (Energy) to the Chief Minister of Sabah for the second term, appointed to lead Kumpulan Yayasan Bumiputra Sabah in their restructuring as the Group Managing Director, and was the Technical and Regulatory Adviser to KKIP Sdn. Bhd. His expertise is especially relevant to advancing sustainability and green energy through practical implementation, policy alignment, and cross-sector collaboration. Holding a Doctorate of Science in energy management, Dr. Lim is known for achieving measurable results from strategic initiatives.

His career includes leading Honda to market leadership in Malaysia, restructuring a major construction group, and serving as CEO for forestry and MSC-status companies. A sustainability advocate, he has contributed to Malaysia’s energy sector through roles on the Energy Commission’s Technical Advisory Board and the Electricity Tariff Committee. He developed platforms like CDP, PQMS, and UP4P, and formulated energy-efficiency solutions for Malaysia, Bhutan and many other Southeast Asia countries including Beijing Power of China.

Dr. Lim is also an author and trainer, having trained over 1,500 electrical engineers and presented at professional forums. His expertise focuses on practical implementation, measurable outcomes, and integrating business growth with environmental stewardship, advocating for “planet, people, prosperity, and partnership.
