Dr Mohd Safiee B. Ismail

DR. MOHD SAFIEE BIN ISMAIL is the Director of the Family Health Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia since 24 March 2023. Prior to that, he was appointed as the Director of Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in 2021 and the Deputy Director of State Health (Public Health), Perlis State Health Department in 2020. His area of expertise is in public health. Received his M.D from Vrije Universiteit Brussels, Belgium in 1992 and completed his Master’s in Epidemiology (Public Health) from the College of Public Health, University of the Philippines, Manila in 1999. Has very long working experience in the Family Health Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia. He has been actively involved in policy planning and development, monitoring and analysis for family health programmes especially in the delivery of primary care services.

With his extensive experience and knowledge in primary healthcare, she continues to be involved in strategic management, providing guidance and technical input on matters related to primary healthcare at the national and international levels. His published works are mostly related to the reform of primary healthcare delivery and the evaluation and performance of primary healthcare health services. It has also conducted several collaborative research projects with international partners such as the Joint Learning Network for UHC under R4D USA, WHO and Harvard School of Public Health.
