DR MOLLY CHEAH BEE LI was the founder and has served as the President of the Malaysian Council for Tobacco Control (MCTC) for several terms. She is active in a number of Civil Society Organisations and is the Current President of the Gerontological Association of Malaysian (GEM), a position
she had held before in 2000 when she was responsible for the admission of GEM into the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics IAGG) as representative of Malaysia in IAGG. Dr Molly represents GEM in the Malaysian Coalition on Ageing (MCOA) and had also represented primary care doctors in delivering a talk on “Empowering the Rights to Health for Older Persons” organized by the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) which was published in their “Report on Care Services for Older Persons and Support for Caregivers” in 2015.

Her past experiences over a period of half a decade illustrate her dedication and earnest participation in championing the issues and challenges of Ageing and older persons through community advocacy and networking. Recently she led GEM in partnership with the MHAS and MSGM to bid and successfully win the hosting of the IAGG Asia Oceania Regional Congress in Kuala Lumpur in 2027/8 with the Congress Theme “Futures of Ageing Societies: Individual, Family, Community and the State”
