Dr. Renard Siew

 Dr Renard Siew is a sustainability and climate finance professional with over a decade of experience spanning corporate leadership, policy advocacy and academia. He holds a PhD in Climate Change and Sustainability from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, where he also obtained a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (First Class Honours). He further strengthened his expertise through a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Supply Chains from the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership as a recipient of the Cambridge Bursary Scheme.

Currently, Dr Renard serves as President of the Malaysia Carbon Market Association, where he leads strategic planning, engages public and private sector stakeholders and advocates for sound carbon market policies. He conceptualised the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework and spearheaded national capacity-building initiatives to develop Malaysia’s voluntary carbon market ecosystem. In parallel, he is the Group Head of Sustainability at Yinson Holdings Berhad, where he has implemented the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework, developed sustainability-linked financing structures and overseen ESG engagement and reporting.

Previously, Dr Renard headed sustainability functions at MRCB Berhad and Sime Darby Holdings, where he led multi-year sustainability roadmaps, developed climate strategies and integrated sustainability KPIs across diversified business divisions. At MRCB, he also served as a technical member of the United Nations CFO Taskforce to promote green investment in Southeast Asia. His earlier role at CIMB Berhad focused on sustainable finance policy development, ESG due diligence and regional representation in UNEP-FI initiatives, including co-chairing the Collective Commitment on Climate Action.

Dr Renard began his career as a management trainee at Sime Darby, contributing to strategic transformation projects following major corporate mergers. He also has academic experience as a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at UNSW, where he contributed to teaching, research and curriculum development in sustainable construction and engineering.

In addition to his professional roles, Dr Renard is an active member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on SDG Investment and the WEF Expert Network on Sustainability. His certifications include ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, Green Star Accredited Professional and qualifications in environmental law, energy economics and ESG risk assessment.

As the Co-Chair of the Policy Subcommittee (ASEAN) for the Malaysia Carbon Market Association, Arshad participates in shaping the ASEAN carbon market ecosystem, engaging with stakeholders to promote market integrity and accessibility.
