Ivan Teo is currently the Director of Millesime Hotel where he and a group of medical professionals are transforming a 160-room hotel and a complex totaling 360,000 sq.ft. into an integrated wellness health park with fully assisted living facilities and services. Prior to Millesime Hotel, he has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality and golf industry starting with Orchid Country Club, Singapore where he was first exposed to the world of golf. Gaining experience in hospitality, operations and membership in a golf resort, Ivan returned to serve Malaysia in 2003 and was a Resort Manager at Legends Golf and Country Resort, Sedenak, Johor. Being a Johorean, Ivan decided to continue his career in Johor and went on to manage IOI Palm Villa , Kulai, Johor for 5 years and Ponderosa Golf & Country Club (“PGCC”) for 6 years where he simultaneously managed Rawhide Sdn Bhd, the developer of Ponderosa Woods in Taman Molek, Johor for 4 years. Ivan also had the privilege to be appointed as the General Manager in Malaysia’s biggest golf resort with 54 holes and 142 rooms at Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort (“TPGCR”) right after his tenure in Ponderosa Golf & Country Club. Before 30 years of age, Ivan obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the United Kingdom and prior to that was also a hospitality graduate from Switzerland. With interest in education and training, had also being actively involved in management and leadership training in Singapore and Johor Bahru until today. With an interest in music, he has experience in playing different musical instruments and in different genres since primary school like the er-hu, piano, guitar and even digital musical instruments. As TPGCR and PGCC have hotel facilities, Ivan has been actively involved in the Malaysia Association of Hotels (“MAH”) Johor Chapter since 2014 and in 2022 he was re-elected as the Chairman of the MAH- Johor chapter. Under Ivan’s leadership, he had turned MAH-Johor to an active and progressive association. Ivan’s business acumen, charismatic nature and ability to lead had gained him a good reputation in the industry. His has the passion and drive to bring Johor’s tourism and leisure industry and is seen through various projects like the 127-networking among Hoteliers GMs, Virtual hospitality training, Retired GMs for Star raters & etc. He believes that the only way for Johor’s tourism industry to succeed is to collaborate with neighboring country’s tourism associations. Efforts like these are bearing fruit as Johor has been experiencing an increase in visitors from Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and China. |
