Ms. Barbara Meynert – Business and thought leader Barbara Meynert has executive expertise across a broad range of sectors. She has enjoyed an international career in merchant banking, commercial and regulatory institutions, holding directorships in the corporate and non-profit sectors in Asia and Europe.

As founder of the World Business Chamber, Ms Meynert has created a global platform to enable connectivity for SMEs. She is actively engaged in new digital technologies that are transforming the way we live, work and socialize. As Adjunct Professor at the University of Hong Kong, she has been giving public seminars on the impact of digitalization on society. She is co-founder of FreeFlow Finance, which is building an ecosystem to unlock the power of regulated digital currencies for global trade.

She has a distinguished banking career where she blazed the trail for other women. She held a leadership position in such international banking institutions as Rothschilds, Barclay Bank and the Belgium-based Kredietbank. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Airport Authority.

She has had a long association with the Hong Kong-based supply chains expert Fung Group, initially as director of the Group companies and subsequently as senior advisor.  She was co-founder of the think tank, Fung Global Institute, the precursor of the Asia Global Institute at the University of Hong Kong, where she currently sits on the advisory board.

Reflecting the value she places on service to society, Ms Meynert founded the UN ESCAP Digital Economy Task Force, and currently sits on the Executive Council of the UN ESCAP Sustainable Business Network. She has played an active role in the International Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong-Asean Economic Cooperation Foundation, the Hong Kong Cyberport Advisory Panel and the FinTech Advisory Council of the Astana International Financial Centre.

Ms Meynert is an alumna of the Harvard Kennedy School, holding a BA from the University of Hong Kong and an MSc from the London School of Economics.
