Ms. Joyce Murang

Joyce Murang currently serves as the Quality Improvement & Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Manager at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu where she plays a key role in driving sustainability and quality improvement initiatives. Passionate about purpose-driven hospitality, she has been instrumental in leading impactful ESG programmes that benefit both resort operations and surrounding communities in Sabah. Her work includes leading marine and environmental conservation initiatives, supporting inclusive employment and staff development, driving ESG awareness and sustainability projects within the resort, and fostering collaborations with local schools and universities in Sabah. She has also supported the resort’s sustainability journey towards Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)-recognised certification standards. 

Under her ESG leadership, the resort has achieved several notable recognitions in recent years, including the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award 2024/2025 for Excellent Achievement in Environmental Performance and the ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Awards 2026, where the resort was recognised as Malaysia’s Best Sustainable Urban Tourism Product under the theme “Eco-friendly Tourist Attraction.” 

In recognition of her dedication and leadership in sustainable hospitality, Joyce was honoured as the CSR Hotelier of the Year at the Stelliers Asia 2025 Hoteliers Awards.
