General Manager, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Meera Raj currently serves as the General Manager at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, an IHG Hotel. She is also the first woman leader to head the InterContinental brand in Malaysia.
Malaysian born and raised, Meera started her career with IHG before moving to other international chains across Southeast Asia before subsequently returning to the brand again as Director of Food & Beverage at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur. She later moved to Thailand where she then paved her way up as General Manager (interim) at InterContinental Koh Samui Resort.
During her first official stint as General Manager at Holiday Inn Bangkok Sukhumvit, she faced many challenges upon her appointment due the unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. An advocate for the welfare of her people, Meera pushed through by ensuring everyone would be taken cared of to the best of her abilities by rising up to the challenge as a leader.
She was soon recognised by IHG Southeast Asia and Korea’s New General Manager Impact Award 2020 for making a positive impact on her team and stakeholders, demonstrating strong leadership and resilience while upholding and living IHG’s behaviours.
Moving forward post-pandemic and back home in Malaysia, Meera is keen to rebuild and reinstate the luxury and glamour of the InterContinental life back to Kuala Lumpur. She believes with the right people in the right place, the brand and property will flourish.
