Professor Barry Winn

PROFESSOR BARRY WINN is a higher education leader focused on strengthening institutional excellence, governance maturity, and graduate employability within Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.

He has served as Vice-Chancellor and President of Taylor’s University since 2024. Under his leadership, Taylor’s entered the Top 30 of the QS Asia University Rankings 2026 (27th place), was granted Self-Accreditation Status by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, and achieved No. 1 in Malaysia for its MBA programme in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2026. These milestones reflect a strong commitment to academic quality, institutional credibility, and global competitiveness.

Professor Winn’s approach positions universities as integrated ecosystems that connect curriculum, research, industry collaboration, and lifelong learning to strengthen talent pipelines and national capability.

Prior to joining Taylor’s, he served as Vice-Chancellor of Sohar University in Oman and held senior leadership roles at the University of Bradford and the University of Hull in the United Kingdom. A scholar with over 100 peer-reviewed publications, he has also contributed to quality assurance frameworks internationally, supporting high academic standards and sustainable institutional development.
