Sonny Nizam Ahmad

Sonny Nizam Ahmad has a diverse background in the manufacturing industry with a wealth of experience and expertise. Prior to his current position, he was the President at Highly Marelli (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., a multinational joint-venture between China and Japan specializing in Automotive Air-conditioning Compressors. His career journey began as a Technician at Beiersdorf Malaysia, where he honed his skills. He then expanded his expertise in machine design while working with Matsushita Industrial Precision Malaysia, a Japanese multinational company. Throughout his career, Sonny has gained valuable experience in Sales & Services, particularly in CADCAM Sales & Services, including technical software training for programs such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and Solid Edge.

With a total of 20 years of experience in manufacturing, Sonny has worked in various industries, including Automotive, Metal Stamping, Metal Fabrication, Electronics, and Medical Devices. He has actively contributed as a volunteer in a Non-Government Organization and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Johor Branch.

He is a trainer recognized by HRDC (Human Resource Development Corporation) and possesses extensive knowledge and experience in Management, Administration, Quality Management, Engineering Management, Machine Maintenance Management, Safety, Ergonomics, Problem Solving, and Productivity, among other areas. He has conducted numerous training sessions, primarily focusing on Management and Manufacturing-related topics.

Sonny has also been invited to speak at various events such as IOT Implementation in Manufacturing at the Gearing Up for Industry 4.0 event organized by SUMITEC Sdn. Bhd., participated in the Iskandar Malaysia CEO Roundtable Virtual Series organized by IRDA, and represented the Manufacturing Industries as a Speaker invited by Malaysia Productivity Corporation.

Throughout his career, he has garnered numerous achievements such as being a finalist in the 2021 MITI Industry Excellence Award, receiving the Silver award in the 2019 Business Excellence Award organized by FMM, and achieving the Silver award in Recognition of High Productivity Enterprise Using Local Talent organized by MPC in 2019. He has also earned various recognitions in QCC (Quality Control Circle) at both national and international levels. He has been acknowledged as a Productivity Champion by MPC and received the Strategic Partnership Award from ILJTM (Institut Latihan Jabatan Tenaga Manusia). He has also received from Marelli Corp the 2019 CSR Award and the 2020 CEO Excellence Award, further highlighting his commitment to driving positive impact within the organization and the community.

Sonny holds a range of qualifications and certifications that demonstrate his expertise and commitment to professional development. He has completed an Executive Master in Business Administration from Open University of Malaysia and obtained a Professional Skill Training Certificate in Turning from MLVK. In addition, Sonny is certified as a Leader of Productivity Champion by Malaysia Productivity Corporation, a Train The Trainer by the Human Resource Development Corporation, a Plant Manager, and has successfully completed the Certified Foreign Service Assessment Program and the Certified Global Business Leader program from Calsonic Kansei Japan.
