TAN AI CHIN is currently Managing Director, Senior Banker and
Head of Investment Banking in OCBC Malaysia. Ai Chin is part of the
Environmental, Social & Governance Committee of the Association of
Banks in Malaysia (ABM) and is also a committee member of OCBC
Group’s Sustainability Taskforce. She also sits on the Board of several
companies within the OCBC Group.
Ai Chin oversees client coverage for the top tier GLCs/Conglomerates
and spearheads the team that provides a comprehensive suite of
services encompassing loan syndication, capital market, project &
structured finance, financial and M&A advisory services, Islamic
finance with the main focus towards developing holistic, creative and
value accretive investment banking solutions.
Ai Chin has accumulated more than 30 years of experience in a wide array of investment banking and corporate banking activities. Prior to Ai Chin’s current position, Ai Chin was the General Manager and Head, Debt Origination at RBS Bank Malaysia (formerly ABN AMRO) and before that, the General Manager and Head of Capital Markets & Structured Finance in the investment banking arm of Maybank Group.
Ai Chin has been actively involved in advising, structuring and lead arranging various landmark/high profile and award-winning transactions for many GLCs and conglomerates. She has also recently pioneered several award winning green and sustainable financing transactions in Malaysia including the first Sustainability-linked Bond in Malaysia for a real estate investment trust company as well as the world’s first syndicated Islamic multi-currency sustainability-linked financing for a leading regional telecommunication conglomerate.
Under Ai Chin’s stewardship, OCBC Malaysia has been ranked amongst the top 3 loan syndication mandated lead arrangers and top 2 foreign banks for bond issuance in Malaysia for the past few years and has also won recognition for product innovation from local rating
agencies and international publications. Most recent accolades include the prestigious Green & Sustainable Finance Deal of the Year and Service Awards 2021 by the Islamic Finance News,
Country Deal Award – Water Deal of the Year at The Asset AAA Infrastructure Awards 2021, and Special Award for Sustainable Energy Financing (Islamic Financing)
