biography

The Hon. Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri was appointed as the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development of Malaysia in December 2022. Her appointment was graced with compassion and leadership especially for those affected by the overwhelming floods and natural disasters of that period.

Nancy Shukri’s appointment as the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development has made her the longest-serving female Federal Minister hailing from the state of Sarawak. Nancy Shukri, herself, is a prominent figure within the female advocacy movement in Malaysia, championing women’s rights at the grassroots levels since the early days of her careers.

Backed with years of experience, as a Minister, she advocates for a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to the daily polemics challenging women, family institutions and the society. Nancy Shukri is passionate about ensuring quality care, from cradle to grave, and intends to do so through a community-empowered, family-oriented and gender responsive Malaysia.
