Research Director, KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific
VOON ZHEN YI is the Research Director at the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific. Prior to joining KSI, he was Manager of Programmes & Research at the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI)’s Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS). He leads KSI’s research unit which is currently focused on education issues and other matters of national interest. Voon has contributed several op-eds on education policy, politics, and governance in local Malaysian media.
Voon is active in youth work. He is the National Secretary of the Boys’ Brigade in Malaysia and was formerly a Director at YMCA Kuala Lumpur where he was chair of Programmes and Youth. Prior to his career in think tanks, Voon worked full-time in NGOs for 4 years providing youth training and development.
He holds a Master of Public Policy and Management from Monash University, Australia and a Bachelor of Business and Commerce from the same university.
